Tanzania's mountains
Embark on the ultimate trekking adventure by conquering Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak and one of the world’s most iconic climbs. Rising majestically above the clouds, Kilimanjaro offers breathtaking landscapes – from lush rainforests and alpine meadows to the dramatic glacier-capped summit. Just nearby, Mount Meru awaits with its own unique charm. Often called Kilimanjaro’s “little brother”, Meru is less crowded but equally stunning, with diverse wildlife, crater views, and sweeping panoramas of Kilimanjaro itself. Climbing both mountains is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers – challenge yourself, witness incredible sunrises, and stand above the world.
You’ll be accompanied by experienced guides who will ensure your safety and share their extensive knowledge of the mountains and the surrounding nature. On Mount Meru, you’ll also be accompanied by a ranger. Your main luggage will be carried by porters, allowing you to fully enjoy the trek even with your daypack. A cook will also be present to provide meals.
The hike up Mount Merus is possible in 3 or 4 days, while the climb up Kilimanjaro takes 6 to 7 days.

Mount Kilimanjaro – Marangu Route
Marangu is by far the most popular route used for summiting Kilimanjaro and better known as the “Coca-Cola Trail”. It’s also the only route that offers mountain hut accommodation, a bonus when the weather is not always sunny and dry. All your equipment and supplies are carried by porters and a cook prepares all your meals. The route is less scenic because the ascent and descent are done via the same trails.

Mount Kilimanjaro – Machame Route
The Machame Route, often called the “Whiskey Route,” is one of the most popular and scenic ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers breathtaking views and a rich variety of landscapes, from lush rainforest to alpine desert and glacial summit. Though more physically demanding than the Marangu Route, it is highly rewarding for those seeking a true mountain adventure.

Mount Kilimanjaro – Lemosho Route
The Lemosho Route offers an unspoiled, remote and beautiful trail up to Shira Plateau. It can either be used in combination with the Western Breach Route or with the Kibo South Circuit ascending via Barafu Camp. This route is one of the quietest on the mountain and offers panoramic vistas and some game viewing as the forests around the Lemosho Glades are rich in buffalo, elephant and other big game animals.

Mount Kilimanjaro – Rongai Route
The Rongai Route is the only route that ascends Kilimanjaro from the north, just east of Rongai village on the border between Tanzania and Kenya. This route retains a sense of unspoiled wilderness and offers a different perspective on Kilimanjaro. It is moderately difficult and is recommended for those with less experience.

Mount Kilimanjaro – Umbwe Route

Mount Meru
Mount Meru is one of Africa’s most beautiful, dormant volcanic cones. Standing at 4566 m, it is the second highest mountain in Tanzania and also the fifth highest mountain in Africa! The rewarding climb to the summit takes you through grassland and lush forest, where you are likely to spot wildlife. Stunning sights into the crater and breath-taking views across to the majestic Kilimanjaro make this an incredible climbing experience!
